Estuary Tubal survived being eaten by a dragon, which should be the first sign that this Rogue Legacy 2 boss will be difficult to defeat. With multiple phases and a variety of attacks, this boss throws everything he has at players. By knowing how to avoid and counter his movies, players can take him down nonetheless. Here’s everything there is to know about beating Estuary Tubal.
Preparing To Battle Estuary Tubal
To battle Tubal, the player must first use the Pearl Key and the Onyx Key to unlock a pair of portals. Each contains a mini-boss (Briareus the Hammer and Cottus the Sword in the Pearl Portal and Gyges the Axe and Aegaeon the Shield in the Onyx Portal). Beating them grants the player access to Tubal’s arena.

Before starting the fight, the player needs to read the journal in the hidden room behind the storeroom of Pishon Dry Lake. To reach the journal, the player can destroy the trick wall with a spell or talent. Reading the journal grants the player a 15% damage buff against Tubal.
Approaching Tubal is dangerous, so ranged classes such as the Ranger and Gunslinger are particularly helpful for this fight. It also helps to use status effect spells to eliminate Tubal’s floating assistants once their invulnerability ends, freeing the player up to focus on the boss. Characters with good AoE skills are also useful for dealing with the assistants that Estuary Tubal summons.
Phase One Of The Estuary Tubal Boss Fight
Estuary Tubal uses six attacks throughout the fight. For his first, he strikes his hammer, surrounding himself with a damaging wave and spawning three assistants that will float around the arena and try to hit the player. Though invulnerable for a few seconds upon spawning, their invincibility will soon fade, at which time the player will be able to kill them with a few hits.
Tubal leaps into the air for his second attack, causing flaming swords to rain down when he lands. Dash under the boss when he jumps, then avoid the swords.
For the boss’s third attack, he lights his hammer on fire and slams it on the ground, generating an explosion and creating two large saw blades. The blades appear on both sides of the boss and move outward towards the walls. Stay away from the boss to dodge the explosion, and jump over the saw blade when it approaches.

Tubal’s fourth attack creates five red Curse Bullets which home in on the player. They’re quick but will be destroyed if the player strikes them. For his fifth attack, Estuary Tubal raises his anvil and strikes it with his hammer, creating two Void walls that the player can dash through. The damage buff from the journal will help finish the fight before Tubal’s attacks can do too much damage, making it one of the best hidden secrets in the game.
The boss’s sixth attack sees him hold his hammer upwards, gathering electricity before slamming it down. The slam electrifies the floor, making it necessary for the player to Spin Kick off of Tubal to avoid the hazard. If the player doesn’t want to risk a Spin Kick, a well-timed double jump and dash will keep the player in the air long enough for the electricity to disappear.
Phase Two Of The Estuary Tubal Boss Fight
When his health falls to 66%, Tubal will be briefly stunned before creating a homing Orb that will remain for the remainder of the fight. When it reaches 33%, Tubal will create four sawblades on the arena’s walls. Navigating around them can be a challenge, but the player can Spin Kick off of them if necessary. Getting too greedy for damage at this stage is a common mistake that the boss will happily punish.

The optimal strategy for defeating Estuary Tubal is to remain at a distance, making the most of one’s class talents and landing ranged attacks while leaving enough time to evade the boss’s swings and fireballs. Getting behind the boss will help the player escape most of his attacks, and frequent double jumping can help avoid many of his deadly AoE effects.
