As many likely know, Warner Bros. had been set to reveal a new Batman game at E3 2020 prior to COVID-19. The game itself has even been teased multiple times, with a rumored reveal coming at DC Fandome itself. Of course, if Suicide Squad is going to be there, it makes sense for Batman to be as well. But that connection goes deeper.

Batman and Suicide Squad Rumors

Not too long ago, both Suicide Squad and Batman: Gotham Knights leaked via a website domain. In other words, if one is legit and bears no subtitle (as it seems to be), then the other could easily be as well. If so, this means fans may already know the title of the next Batman game ahead of its full reveal. This may be why Suicide Squad is the tease for the event, as other than this leak, nothing else has really circulated the rumor mill.

Batman: Gotham Knights, on the other hand, has a ton of implications itself. Not only is the subtitle plural, but Gotham Knights is a comic book run about the Bat-Family. This subtitle is practically perfect for a game focused on the Bat-Family, one of the most prominent rumors of the game. This means players should expect appearances from playable Bat-Family members such as Night Wing and Batgirl, among others, with this reveal making it seem all the more likely. But the biggest implication comes down to Amanda Waller.

Batman and Suicide Squad: The DC Gaming Universe

One rumor concerning Batman Arkham 2020 is that its a reboot in spirit of setting up a DC Gaming Universe. If so, this all makes even more sense. It would stand to reason that Batman Arkham 2020 and Suicide Squad could be intrinsically, if minimally, connected as a way to bring all of this together. After all, there’s likely to be one shared character: Amanda Waller.

While the Court of Owls may just be the primary antagonist of Batman: Arkham 2020, the aforementioned teases of the game have included strange symbols, one of which seemingly alludes to Amanda Waller. As a pseudo-ally and more-often-than-not enemy of the Caped Crusader, Amanda Waller has a ton of ways she could appear in the game, but she’s also notable for having a big role in the Suicide Squad. Coincidence? Maybe, but it seems unlikely. If this Suicide Squad tease has fans excited to see that game in action, it would be a big move by WB to compound on it with Batman, especially after all the rumors.

Rocksteady’s Suicide Squad is getting a proper reveal at DC Fandome on August 22.
