For those who haven’t finished Batman: Arkham City yet, don’t worry: nothing will be spoiled within the article, leaving you the chance to make it on your own terms. For the rest, it’s safe to assume that a big “wow” was uttered by the time everything was said and done. Normally this type of ending would cause uproar with DC Publishing, yet it doesn’t seem to be the case.
According to Rocksteady Studios’ Sefton Hill, he couldn’t be happier with the amount of freedom and creative license his team was given (not to mention the trust) throughout development. Hill believes that the level of respect that Rocksteady had developing the game allowed them the credibility with Batman’s creators to “do what totally fits.” He went on say that because of that duality, they were able to create a more tangible tale:
Whatever hill’s team did, it seems to be working. With over 4 million copies of the game sold in less than a week and soaring reviews, Batman: Arkham City could be a big step in how developers design comic book stories within their games. Gamers that have finished the game, what did you think of the outcome? Was it DC-worthy, or do you think they should have tried something else? Give us your thoughts (though be respectful of those that may not have finished).
Batman: Arkham City is currently available for the Xbox 360 and PS3.
