Hill wants Rocksteady’s fans to know that while Rocksteady doesn’t have a presence at E3 this year, that the development team on the next project is still paying attention:
This is Sefton Hill’s first tweet since September 2017. He’s not a prolific tweeter. So his going out of his way to send a message out from the entirety of Rocksteady should hopefully say just how important it was to him.
It has been a growing trend for some time in the gaming industry that games be announced much closer to their release than has typically been the case. While 2018’s E3 has proven contrary to that trend for some publishers, others have remained dedicated to that pursuit. Warner Bros., to whom Rocksteady is a subsidiary of, remains one such publisher. Only two WB games were featured at E3, Hitman 2 and LEGO DC Super Villans, both of which will launch in 2018. Meanwhile, WB’s two most-rumored games, a Mortal Kombat sequel and Rocksteady’s next game, were both no-shows.
Whatever Rocksteady’s next game turns out to be, whether it’s the Superman game, a broader Justice League game, or anything, announcing it too early doesn’t help anyone. It’ll be done when it’s done. Rocksteady continues to work as hard on the project as the day before and knowing that should hopefully keep fans’ patience tempered for the time being.
There’s always E3 2019, after all.
